The Gasifier Experimenters Kit (GEK) makes it easy for beginners and experts alike to run high performance solutions in small-scale gasification and pyrolysis. Whether you’re a DIY power enthusiast, commercial user, or university researcher; the GEK removes the starting hurdles of gasification, and gets you making clean gas for power generation and biochar for soil amendment.
The GEK is designed in a modular fashion for easy switch out between common reactor types and operating regimes. You can use the GEK to run an expertly configured downdraft gasifier for fueling engines and generating electricity. Or you can use the same parts system to create a multi-mode pyrolysis reactor for biochar making and soil studies. Within each reactor type, all variables are easily adjusted and sub-assemblies are simply replaced via standardized “bolt to” flanges.
This modular design also makes it possible to add performance parts and process elaborations as your needs require. Gasifiers are seldom “one design fits all”. Different fuels and use situations require different solutions. Thus the GEK is designed for easy customization with add-ons such as:
The result of is a uniquely powerful “LEGO system” of biomass thermal conversion. The GEK let’s you deploy all the commonly discussed, but rarely implemented “expert solutions”– and does so at the smaller-scale and lesser price relevant for personal scale energy projects.

Getting Started
| ALL Power Labs offers the GEK at a variety of part counts and states of assembly. From “You build it from scratch” to “We deliver it complete”; you decide the relative amount of effort vs cost you want to invest towards your finished unit.
You can use our free open source CAD files to built the GEK from junkyard scrap tanks, or you can spend a bit of money and build it from one of our weld together sheet metal and plumbing kits. Or maybe you’d rather do it the easy way and have it arrive at your door completely finished; maybe even combined with an engine-genset for a fully automated, ready-to-go, biomass power generation solution. Whatever route you choose, our goal is to provide the best engineering solutions in contemporary biomass thermal conversion, open and honest information, and the physical equipment to make it all happen at uniquely value optimized prices. |

The Complete Solution: 10kw Power Pallet

The GEK Power Pallet is a complete power generation solution that converts woody biomass to electricity. It is a compact, integrated and fully automated system –wood chips in, electricity out– delivered at the breakthrough price of $1-$2/watt.
The Power Pallet is comprised of the GEK Hot TOTTI gasifier, spark fired engine, generator head, and electronic controller. The system automatically adjusts syngas/air mixture via a wide band Bosch oxygen sensor, shakes the grate when needed, and removes ash via a mechanical auger. The Gasifier Control Unit (GCU) monitors and responds to all internal reactor and filter conditions, displaying the results on an LED screen. Power Pallets are available in 10kw, 15kw and 20kw sizes, using Kohler or Ford industrial engines. Genheads are configurable to single, split or three phase, at 120/208/240vac, 60hz or 50hz.
