Geopolymers for hearth construction

Hello,

I was reading some interesting articles on geopolymers and I think that their durability might be useful for coating the inside of some of the more thermally challenged areas. I know that Jim and crew have done excellent work in using carbon steel instead of stainless wherever possible, but this might be another option especially for stationary applications.

A good definition of geopolymers is of course from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geopolymers This PDF has some formulas as well as some technical data concerning them. http://kriven.mse.uiuc.edu/recent/ge...lks/afosr1.pdf One very interesting speculation is that the ancient Egyptians and/or Romans may have known how to create these materials. This, if true, may allow us to create them without high-tech equipment.

The article is from the Geopolymer Institute which doesn't seem to be a crackpot outfit. http://www.geopolymer.org/archaeolog...-of-concrete-1

As always, thanks for the hard work that is being down to push gasification forward
